Mexican man from Durham dies after leukemia diagnosis in ICE custody. Read his words.

Prisciliano Trejo Ricano, a 29-year-old Mexican man who lived in Durham, N.C., and was brought to the U.S. at age 3, died July 24 at a hospital in Augusta, Ga., of an aggressive leukemia diagnosed while he was detained at Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Ga. Arrested June 19 in the Durham area, he told family from inside Stewart that he was sick, coughing up blood, in pain, and had a bruise that would not heal, and that his requests for medical care were denied. He was hospitalized in mid-July; ICE transferred him to the hospital and released him from custody to his family while he was in a coma, days before his death.
