Venezuelan Woman Married to U.S. Citizen Held in ICE Detention for 6 Months Without Bond Hearing

March 17, 2026 Macclenny, Florida Miami Herald
Gabriela Sousa, a Venezuelan woman who entered the U.S. legally in 2023 through a federal humanitarian parole program and married U.S. citizen Brandon Garrison in April 2025, has been held at the Baker County detention facility in Macclenny, Florida, for nearly six months without a bond hearing. She was detained following a domestic dispute in October 2025 in which no charges were filed, and her attorneys are challenging ICE's classification of her case, arguing it wrongfully denies her judicial review rights.
