Witness to Lorenzo Salgado Araujo's shooting released from ICE custody after 22 days

Jose Trinidad Rojas Pliego, one of three passengers in the van when an ICE agent fatally shot Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, a 52-year-old father of three, in Houston's East End on July 7, was released from the Montgomery Processing Center in Conroe on July 29 after 22 days in detention, under a release order issued by U.S. District Judge Keith Ellison, according to Houston Public Media and Texas Public Radio. Federal prosecutors under newly appointed U.S. Attorney Aaron Reitz moved to stay the release order. The other two witnesses — Victor Hugo Salgado Araujo, Lorenzo's brother, and Daniel Tirada Pantoja — remained in ICE detention with similar release petitions pending.
