ProPublica Finds 506 U.S. Citizens Detained by Immigration Agents Since the Start of Trump’s Second Term

October 6, 2026 Nationwide ProPublica Investigation
ProPublica identified 506 U.S. citizens detained by immigration agents during the second Trump administration, including more than a hundred held after agents questioned their citizenship, at least 70 children and teens, and at least 63 detained while recording. Roughly a dozen citizens were deported, mostly children. ProPublica says its list is almost certainly an undercount, because the government does not track these cases.
