Many Illinois Public Colleges Fail to Follow Law Protecting Immigrant Students From Federal Agents on Campus

A WBEZ review of Illinois public colleges and universities found that many institutions are not following a state law that requires them to keep ICE and other federal immigration agents off campus without a judicial warrant and to notify students about their rights. Students at schools including Harold Washington College say the lack of clear policy has heightened fear after months of masked, armed ICE operations in the Chicago area, with some immigrant students reluctant to attend class or seek campus services.
