Trump Administration Makes It Harder for Immigrant Survivors of Domestic Violence to Get Visas or Green Cards
New U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services rules will make it significantly harder for hundreds of thousands of immigrant survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking, and other forms of abuse to obtain visas and green cards, according to lawyers and advocates. The changes affect VAWA self-petitions and other humanitarian pathways designed to protect victims of crime from being forced to rely on abusive partners or traffickers for legal status.
