US Ramps Up Deportation of Pregnant People

ICE deported 363 pregnant, postpartum, or nursing women between January 2025 and February 2026, according to DHS data obtained by Human Rights Watch. As of mid-February 2026, 86 detainees were identified as pregnant in ICE custody, with 16 miscarriages recorded by late September 2025. The report documents inadequate medical care despite ICE policy stating the agency "generally" does not detain pregnant individuals.
