Palestinian Protester Released After Nearly a Year in ICE Detention

Leqaa Kordia, 33, was released on $100,000 bond from Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas, after more than a year in immigration custody. Originally arrested at Columbia University during pro-Palestinian protests in 2024, she was detained by ICE in 2025 for an expired student visa. Kordia was hospitalized after a seizure in detention and described conditions as "filthy" and "inhumane."
