Man Identified as J.Y. Held at Farmville for More Than 450 Days as a Friend Keeps Him in a Fantasy Football League

A Chinese-born green card holder identified only as J.Y. has been held at the Farmville Detention Center in Virginia for more than 450 days; ICE detained him outside his Richmond home in July 2025. He lost his case and received a final removal order on July 1, 2026, but remains detained because ICE reportedly lost his Chinese passport and must obtain travel documents. His friend Patrick Beverly has kept him in their fantasy football league by mailing notes and coordinating phone calls.
