Man Fleeing Immigration Agents Killed by Semi-Truck in St. Augustine, Florida
A 28-year-old Mexican man died after Homeland Security Investigations agents confronted four men in a convenience-store parking lot along a busy road in St. Augustine; as the men fled, he ran into the road and was struck by a semi-truck. Florida Highway Patrol confirmed he died at the scene. DHS did not say whether he was the target of the operation. It was the third immigration enforcement–related death in one week, after the fatal ICE shootings of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston and Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero in Maine.
