After Six Months in ICE Detention, 19-Year-Old Portland Resident Olivia Andre to Be Released
Olivia Andre, a 19-year-old asylum seeker and Portland resident, will be released this week from an ICE family detention facility in Texas after federal authorities held her for six months, U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) announced. Andre’s case drew protests in Portland and a congressional delegation visit to the Dilley facility, where lawmakers said they witnessed conditions including limited medical care and prolonged detention of asylum seekers with no criminal record.
