Mourners light candles and leave flowers at the site where an ICE officer shot Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero in Biddeford, Maine

Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero, 26 — Killed by ICE Officer in Biddeford, Maine

July 13, 2026 Biddeford, Maine
Age 26, Colombian national, father of a young daughter
An ICE officer shot and killed Durán Guerrero around 7 a.m. as he drove away from a Biddeford residence under surveillance for a different man’s removal order. DHS said the vehicle “attempted to flee” and the officer fired “fearing for public safety”; Sen. Angus King and DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin confirmed Durán Guerrero was not the target of the warrant. Advocates say he had work authorization and a Social Security number. The Maine Attorney General opened a state investigation, the FBI is leading a federal inquiry, and the officer was placed on leave. Federal officials have refused to identify the agent.
