ICE Arrests Surge at Airports, Opening a New Front in the Deportation Drive
Federal agents have begun arresting foreign citizens with expired visas as they travel through airports — among them spouses of U.S. citizens, tech workers, and people with active applications to stay in the country. Plainclothes agents have taken people at check-in counters and arrival gates, with enforcement actions documented at at least 15 airports in recent weeks. The arrests appear to expand an existing data-sharing arrangement between the Transportation Security Administration and ICE, opening a vast new pool of people to deportation.
