ICE Arrests Drop Nearly 12% Following Minneapolis Killings
National ICE arrests fell nearly 12% in the five weeks after the late-January Minneapolis killings of two American citizens — Renee Good and Alex Pretti — by immigration officers, according to data from UC Berkeley’s Deportation Data Project. Average weekly arrests dropped to 7,369 following Border Czar Tom Homan’s February 4 announcement of a leadership shake-up, down from 8,347 in the prior period. Officials attributed the decline to the post-shooting reorganization and public backlash, even as the administration insists enforcement operations remain at full strength.
