Hutchins Mega Center — Hutchins, TX
ICE had identified a vacant 1-million-square-foot warehouse at 950 N. I-45 as the site for what would have been the nation's largest detention center—nearly double the capacity of the current largest facility (Camp East Montana in El Paso, 5,000 beds). Hutchins has a population of only about 5,600 people, and the plan drew sharp community opposition; Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price said "the infrastructure's not there."
Canceled: On February 16, 2026, the warehouse owner, Majestic Realty Co., told CBS News Texas it "has not and will not enter into any agreement for the purchase or lease of any building to the Department of Homeland Security for use as a detention facility," ending the proposal. The company did not explain why it declined.
