Federal Jury Convicts CBP Officer Who Used Badge and Gun to Sexually Assault Women

A federal jury convicted U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer Luis Uribe, 45, on 10 counts of deprivation of civil rights under color of law and one count of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. Prosecutors said Uribe, who was stationed at O’Hare International Airport, forced his way into hotel rooms in Schaumburg and Naperville between February and October 2022, set his badge and gun on the table, demanded money and sexually assaulted four women, all of Chinese descent; he told a fifth woman he was “immigration police.” Testifying in his own defense, Uribe claimed a prostitution ring had framed him and quipped that he “still got a good workout in” — a remark the prosecutor called a rape joke. Sentencing is set for January 21, 2027, and the firearm count alone carries a mandatory minimum of seven years.
