Detainee Speaks Out as Hunger Strike Continues at Michigan’s Largest ICE Detention Center
Immigrants detained at the North Lake Processing Center — a privately operated ICE facility in Baldwin and the state’s largest — continued a hunger strike Wednesday, with the advocacy group No Detention Centers in Michigan saying detainees are protesting alleged medical neglect, unsafe conditions, and prolonged legal delays. One detainee agreed to speak out about conditions inside the facility as advocates pressed for independent oversight and the release of people held without timely hearings.
