Democrats Accuse ICE of Creating 'Disappearances' on US Soil

A group of 36 lawmakers led by Senator Elizabeth Warren sent a letter accusing DHS of creating "disappearances" on US soil, saying the online detainee locator system used by families, attorneys, and journalists to track detained immigrants has become "increasingly unreliable" since January 2025. The lawmakers demand the DHS inspector general investigate ICE's secretive holding rooms where people have been detained for days or weeks in violation of federal policy.
