Wyatt Detention Facility Operator Files for Bankruptcy to Reorganize $160M Debt — Central Falls, RI

July 14, 2026 Central Falls, Rhode Island Boston Globe
The Central Falls Detention Facility Corporation, the quasi-public operator of the 770-bed Donald W. Wyatt Detention Facility — which holds detainees for ICE, the U.S. Marshals Service, and the Bureau of Prisons — filed a Chapter 11 petition to restructure bond debt from its mid-2000s expansion. Under the proposed plan, bondholders would waive more than $100 million, leaving a $67.5 million balance, and their 2019 lawsuit seeking roughly $130 million and receivership would be dismissed. The facility, which has sharply expanded its ICE population under the Trump administration, says it has no plans to close.
