Trump Pressures ICE to Resume Traffic Stops After They Were Halted Over Fatal Shootings
ICE ordered its officers on July 14 to halt most vehicle stops nationwide after agents fatally shot two men in one week — Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston and Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero in Biddeford, Maine. A day later, President Trump demanded the stops resume, calling them one of ICE’s “most important and effective tools,” and the suspension was reversed.
