Judge Bars DOJ From Pressuring Facebook and Apple to Remove ICE-Sighting Apps
A federal judge has issued a preliminary injunction ordering the U.S. Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security to stop pressuring Facebook and Apple to take down ICE-monitoring apps and social media groups. The ruling, issued by a U.S. District Court judge, found the administration’s pressure campaign likely violated the First Amendment rights of users and developers of the “ICE-sighting” tools that have spread in response to street-level enforcement.
