City of Central Falls Receives First Payment From Wyatt ICE Detention Facility Since 2021
For the first time in five years, the quasi-public corporation that oversees the Donald W. Wyatt Detention Facility has made a payment to the city of Central Falls — a $250,000 disbursement for hosting the 770-bed facility, which has dramatically expanded its ICE detainee population under the Trump administration. The Wyatt had withheld payments to the host city since 2021 amid bankruptcy concerns; the resumption coincides with a sharply increased ICE contract and continued protests from Rhode Island residents who want the facility closed.
