Rep. Grijalva Calls Conditions at Eloy Detention Center “A Moral Failure”

In a House floor speech on September 30, Rep. Adelita Grijalva said detainees at CoreCivic’s Eloy Detention Center get a cup of ice chips instead of water and face broken air conditioning and inedible food. CoreCivic called her claims inaccurate and said the AC was working; ICE said it provides safe, humane conditions. She cited a detainee with leukemia held there since February 2025 who has lost 60 pounds.
