ProPublica: Domestic Violence Victims Arrested by Police Are Turned Over to ICE and Held at North Lake
A ProPublica investigation, republished by Michigan Advance, describes immigrant domestic violence victims who were arrested by police and turned over to ICE, then held at the North Lake Processing Center in Baldwin. Women identified as Pilar and Leya were arrested in Kent County, whose jail turned over more immigrants to ICE in the first six months of 2026 than in the entire Biden administration. ProPublica spoke with about six alleged victims held in the facility.
