Newark Hospital Refuses to Allow Visits to Hospitalized ICE Detainee, Fiancée Says

Zena Carter of Newark says University Hospital has refused to let her visit or receive any information about her fiancé, Alimamy Sesay, 41, a hospitalized ICE detainee held at the CoreCivic-run Elizabeth Contract Detention Facility since May 2025. The hospital cited ICE restrictions and patient-privacy rules; Carter says she does not know why he was hospitalized, and that in a June 28 call he described pain she suspects was an intestinal problem. ICE and CoreCivic declined to comment.
