Conditions at California Immigrant Detention Centers Have Worsened Under Trump, State Report Finds
The California Department of Justice released its fifth report on conditions inside the state’s immigration detention facilities — a review required by a state law enacted during the first Trump administration that established California oversight of immigrant detention. The report concludes that conditions have deteriorated since the start of the second Trump administration, marking the most extensive state-level documentation to date of the impact of the federal detention buildup on facilities operating inside California.
