Inside Colorado’s Only Immigrant Detention Center: Pepper Spray, Health Crises and Rotten Food

A Denver Post investigation based on eight current and former detainees and more than a dozen advocates and attorneys describes rotten food, no air conditioning in summer, illness, fights and an anonymous detainee who says guards beat him while handcuffed at the GEO Group-run Aurora ICE Processing Center. The Post reports the facility has held its 1,532-bed capacity and booked more than 12,000 people since January 2025.
