ICE Planning Family Detention Facility on PFAS-Contaminated Louisiana Site
ICE is planning a family detention center at England Airpark — a former U.S. Air Force base in Louisiana that ranks among the nation’s most PFAS-contaminated sites — according to a Guardian investigation. High concentrations of toxic “forever chemicals” have been documented in the groundwater at the site, which already serves as a hub for the Trump administration’s deportation flights. Public health experts warn that detaining children and families at the location could expose them to chemicals linked to cancers, immune-system damage, and developmental harm.
