ICE announced on August 7 that "Operation Safe Community – Atlanta," an enhanced enforcement operation conducted across Georgia, resulted in 1,226 arrests. The agency said 720 of those arrested had been convicted of or charged with crimes in the U.S. — meaning 506 people, about 41 percent, had neither, by ICE's own accounting. Patricia Hyde, acting assistant director of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations, said in the release: "Our officers did what they do best: arrest and remove dangerous criminal offenders." The release cited five arrests at the address of a trucking company but did not specify the operation's timeframe.
