‘Stuck in Purgatory’: ICE Detention in Louisiana Stretches On for Years
A series of compounding policy changes advancing President Trump’s mass-deportation agenda — including mandatory detention and third-country deportations — have left thousands of people held in Louisiana, one of the country’s largest ICE detention hubs, trapped in what attorneys describe as seemingly endless detention with little hope of release.
