ICE Arrests of Asian Americans in California Increased by More Than 1,000%

Immigration arrests of Asian American and Pacific Islander Californians rose 1,109% in the first year of the second Trump administration, according to research from the University of Southern California Equity Research Institute. Nearly 3,000 AAPI people in the state were arrested by ICE in 2025 — one of every 10 ICE arrests in California — far outpacing the 386% jump in the state's overall arrests. The communities with the largest increases were from India, China, Vietnam, Armenia and Laos.
