Eleven Activists Arrested Trying to Deliver Care Packages at Burlington ICE Facility
Eleven activists from Maine and Massachusetts — including two retired ministers, a civil rights lawyer, and a family therapist — were arrested while attempting to deliver care packages of food, personal items, and a letter of support to people detained at the Burlington ICE processing center. Roughly forty protesters initially blocked the facility’s administrative entrance; most moved to a designated free-speech area after de-escalation, but eleven refused to leave and were charged with trespassing and disturbing the peace.
