Maine Medical Center nurse Debora Kapisha was released from ICE custody and returned home on August 6, one day after nurses and union members rallied to demand her release. Her union, which had called on MaineHealth to intervene on her behalf, announced the release; colleagues had pressed the hospital system publicly for days while she was held.
