‘We Are Not Criminals’: Hunger Strike Rocks Delaney Hall as Protests Outside Escalate
On Day 5 of a hunger and labor strike inside Delaney Hall, federal officers sprayed chemicals and charged demonstrators gathered outside the GEO Group-run facility — one day after ICE officials pepper-sprayed U.S. Senator Andy Kim. Detainees told visitors they were striking against overcrowding, contaminated food, and medical neglect, and continued to chant “we are not criminals” despite transfers and lockdowns. New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill remained barred from inspecting the facility.
