Colorado Issues State Public Health Order Over Tuberculosis Case at Aurora ICE Facility

August 13, 2026 Aurora, CO Colorado Newsline Oversight
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment issued Public Health Order 26-02 on Thursday, directing the GEO Group to turn over the records state investigators need to finish a tuberculosis investigation at the Aurora ICE Processing Center. The order gives the company until August 17 to send CDPHE and the Denver Health Tuberculosis Clinic complete medical information on everyone with confirmed or suspected active TB since June 1, 2026, a list of everyone identified as potentially exposed along with their symptoms, test results and chest X-rays, and records of any cross-border notification for the person diagnosed. It escalates the standoff to the state level nearly two months after the Adams County Health Department issued an order on the same case that GEO did not comply with. If the company misses the deadline, the state can take legal action against it.
