Class Action Alleges Miramar ICE Office Is Operating as a De Facto Detention Center
The Southern Poverty Law Center and Americans for Immigrant Justice filed a federal class action in Miami for Orlando Rosales Salmeron and a John Doe against DHS, ICE and agency heads. It alleges the Miramar field office holds people for days despite ICE’s 12-hour limit, with up to 150 people in a space with a 56-person maximum, no beds, inadequate food, water and hygiene, denial of medicine and medical care, and restricted access to counsel. The suit says ICE has used the building this way since October 2025.
