Charlotte First-Grader and Her Mother Detained by ICE After ‘Fake Lawyer’ Misled Family

Zoeh, a 6-year-old first-grader at Sugar Creek Charter School, and her mother Ydienays Dariana Dominguez, Venezuelan asylum seekers, were taken into ICE custody at a check-in, according to advocacy group Siembra NC. The group says a judge missed a virtual hearing, a removal order followed, and a person posing as their lawyer never filed an appeal. An ICE officer told the girl’s father they were being transferred to Texas.
