Charlestown Chef Detained by ICE While Driving With His Wife and Toddler

Bruno Crevelin Soares, a Brazilian chef at the Charlestown restaurant Prima, was detained by ICE on August 30 while riding in a car with his wife and their toddler, his brother-in-law Dyego Araujo told the Boston Globe. Araujo said Soares held a work permit and faced no criminal charges, and that his 3-year-old daughter “asks for her father every day.” Immigration attorney Annelise Araujo said she has seen a clear increase in warrantless arrests of immigrants without criminal charges, with restaurant workers among those targeted.
