Colorado Gives Aurora ICE Facility a Deadline to Admit Inspectors in Tuberculosis Probe — Aurora, CO
Colorado health officials gave the GEO Group-operated ICE Processing Center in Aurora until Friday, July 17 to admit investigators after the Adams County Health Department confirmed an active tuberculosis case in a detainee and said GEO was blocking the legally required investigation — denying access to the patient, medical records, and detainee-movement information despite a June 25 public health order. A new state law allows penalties of up to $50,000 for immigration facilities that deny inspectors access; GEO has sued in federal court to block it. The Guardian reported at least 12 detainees have tested positive, a figure ICE denies and local officials have not confirmed.
